Sometimes, stepping out of your comfort zone and trying a new career can mean a change for the better. That’s exactly what Becoming A Proofreader graduate Debra found, as not only did she gain new skills, but she also gained lots more confidence as a freelancer.

Kath, a semi-retired accountant, was looking for something she could do at home to earn some extra money. She now combines bookkeeping with proofreading, and loves helping other people polish their writing.

“I’ve always been a prolific reader, and I appreciate elegant prose. Spelling and grammar errors leap off the page for me, so proofreading seemed to be something I could enjoy and would be good at.“

After taking a break from her career in the insurance industry, Kristen decided it was time to try something new. She now works on her own terms as a freelance proofreader, and has even started her own business!
