Hi, Rachel! What made you consider the Knowadays course?

I was working in retail and trying to discover what I wanted to do in life! I’ve always loved reading books and knew I had good spelling and grammar skills, so I decided I wanted to do a course in editing and proofreading. Then I found this course, and it has changed my life!

Had you done any proofreading before?

Yes, but only informally.

Was there anything surprising or challenging in the course for you?

The final assessment was challenging, but in the best way. It really made me work hard and showed me what needs to be done in order to have a successful proofreading career.

How have you found the transition to working as a freelance proofreader?

It has been incredible. I love proofreading. I love the amount of work that Proofed can offer. It is absolutely amazing. This course has shown me what I want to do for the rest of my life. I want to be a full-time proofreader. I now have a career path and a plan I can follow!

What is your day-to-day work like? And where do you work?

I work from home on my laptop, which is really convenient.

What do you enjoy most about proofreading?

I enjoy learning about different things while I’m proofreading, since you get to read such a variety of documents. This means I get to learn a lot of new things on different subjects.

Are you proofreading elsewhere, in addition to your work at Proofed?

I am currently proofreading my best friend’s book, which he is hoping to get published.

Are you doing any non-proofreading work?

I’m still working in retail for now, but I plan to move to proofreading full time.
