Hi, Ali! What were you doing before you started the course?

I was going about my life, balancing side hustles with reading, gaming, etc., when I saw the Becoming A Proofreader course.

I liked the idea of turning a habit into a real job so I took the course, passed it, and began working for Proofed.

Was there anything surprising or particularly challenging in the course for you?

Referencing styles – they’re fun and not too hard, but they were a lot to take in compared to the other topics.

How has life changed for you as a freelance proofreader?

For me, this was sort of an eye-opener. It showed me that I can create opportunities for myself if I look hard enough and set my mind to it. I’m still getting used to it, but it’s been fulfilling so far.

What do you enjoy most about proofreading?

Mostly I guess it would be figuring out what the customer wants to say in a jumbly sentence, but my favorite work is reading poems! Though poems need relatively less proofreading, they’re really fun to work on.

Have you been self-employed before? How are you finding it?

Nope. You could say this is my first “job.” Nowadays, my day-to-day routine involves side hustles, studying, reading, proofreading, and gaming.
