Pass Becoming A Proofreader and Becoming An Editor with distinction scores of 80% or above, and you’ll have the opportunity to enter a 10-document work trial with our partner company, Proofed.

Step 2
Get Set Up with Proofed
Proofed will send you the paperwork to get started. Once you’ve created your profile, you’ll be able to access the platform and begin the onboarding process.

Step 3
Start Working on Real Client Documents
You’ll complete a paid trial by proofreading or editing up to 10 short documents. These shorter texts help you get familiar with the process and build your confidence.

Step 4
Improve with Feedback from the Proofed Team
A member of the Proofed team will review each document and provide feedback. Getting plenty of positive feedback will help you successfully complete the trial.

Step 5
Join Proofed as a Freelance Editor
Upon successfully completing the 10-document trial, your contract will be confirmed and you’ll become a freelance editor with Proofed. As you gain further practice and experience – and positive feedback – you can take on everything from one-off tasks to long-term client projects, working across a wide range of content from short product descriptions to lengthy dissertations.

Do I need to complete both courses to be eligible for the work trial with Proofed?
To enter a paid 10-document work trial with Proofed, you need to pass both Becoming A Proofreader and Becoming An Editor with distinction scores of 80% or higher. You can purchase the two courses separately or together, and the guaranteed work offer still applies.
Completing Becoming A Proofreader alone does not guarantee work with Proofed, but you can still launch an independent career as a professional proofreader! -
Is anyone eligible to work for Proofed?
To work with Proofed, you must be based (or registered for tax purposes) in a country that has a dual-tax treaty with the United States and that uses a currency that’s compatible with Proofed’s payment system. You can review the full list of eligible countries to check if you’re in a suitable location.

Can I travel while working for Proofed?
Yes! Proofed editors are spread over numerous time zones, and there is no problem with changing locations. You can set your personal time zone within the platform and continue to accept work as and when you choose to. Please note, though, that you must be registered for tax in a country that is compatible with Proofed’s payment system.

Is Proofed a full-time job?
All editors at Proofed are self-employed freelancers, able to accept as much or as little work as they like and when it suits them. It is not an employed role, and the amount of work available at any time varies. Many people treat Proofed as a part-time commitment or as one strand in their freelance plan.
It is possible to build up your workload to a full-time level, but this does not happen right away, and it is not guaranteed. -
What kind of work is available at Proofed?
There is a wide range of proofreading and editing work at Proofed, covering academic, creative, and business documents. Some customers also request services such as formatting and fact-checking in addition to proofreading or editing. Editors don’t need to have these skills to work at Proofed, but a wider skill set opens doors to a wider range of jobs.
Document length varies from short blog articles to lengthy dissertations, so editors can select the project size they prefer and that fits into their schedule. -
