FAQs

Want to learn more about Knowadays and our courses? Take a look at the answers to some frequently asked questions below.

  • Do I need to complete both courses to be eligible for the work trial with Proofed?

To enter a paid 10-document work trial with Proofed, you need to pass both Becoming A Proofreader and Becoming An Editor with distinction scores of 80% or higher. You can purchase the two courses separately or together, and the guaranteed work offer still applies.
Completing Becoming A Proofreader alone does not guarantee work with Proofed, but you can still launch an independent career as a professional proofreader!

  • Is anyone eligible to work for Proofed?

To work with Proofed, you must be based (or registered for tax purposes) in a country that has a dual-tax treaty with the United States and that uses a currency that’s compatible with Proofed’s payment system. You can review the full list of eligible countries to check if you’re in a suitable location.

  • Can I travel while working for Proofed?

Yes! Proofed editors are spread over numerous time zones, and there is no problem with changing locations. You can set your personal time zone within the platform and continue to accept work as and when you choose to. Please note, though, that you must be registered for tax in a country that is compatible with Proofed’s payment system.

  • Is Proofed a full-time job?

All editors at Proofed are self-employed freelancers, able to accept as much or as little work as they like and when it suits them. It is not an employed role, and the amount of work available at any time varies. Many people treat Proofed as a part-time commitment or as one strand in their freelance plan.
It is possible to build up your workload to a full-time level, but this does not happen right away, and it is not guaranteed.

  • What kind of work is available at Proofed?

There is a wide range of proofreading and editing work at Proofed, covering academic, creative, and business documents. Some customers also request services such as formatting and fact-checking in addition to proofreading or editing. Editors don’t need to have these skills to work at Proofed, but a wider skill set opens doors to a wider range of jobs.
Document length varies from short blog articles to lengthy dissertations, so editors can select the project size they prefer and that fits into their schedule.

  • I have more questions about the work guarantee – who can I ask?

You can email any questions to [email protected], and one of the team will be happy to help! If you would rather talk with someone, let us know, and we can schedule a call for you.
