Having worked as a chartered accountant in the charity sector for forty years (where did the time go?!), I decided to change direction and retrained with Proofreading Academy (now Knowadays). As a freelance writer, proofreader and editor, I’ve been able to combine a love of writing, reading and being a bit of a word nerd into a great career portfolio, working with Knowadays, its partner company, Proofed, and my own clients. I love the flexibility that freelancing provides; it’s good to be able to work when it rains and get out into my beloved garden or the local countryside when the sun shines!
They say that there’s a novel inside each of us, and I love writing blog posts, poetry and articles for publication, so my next project really ought to be the novel I’ve had bubbling in the back of my mind for many years. The work that I do with Knowadays and the great courses they offer have provided the springboard that’s propelled me from writing as a hobby to earning from it as a freelancer.
