The Proofreader & Editor Course Bundle

When you purchase the Proofreading & Editing Course Bundle, two courses will be added to your account: Becoming A Proofreader and Becoming An Editor.

Start with Becoming A Proofreader and then move on to Becoming An Editor when you’re ready. You can (and should!) work through the lessons at your own pace.

At the end of each course, there is a final assignment, which is graded by a tutor. If you achieve distinction scores of 80% or higher in each final assignment, you will be invited to enter a 10-document trial period with Proofed. Successful completion of the paid work trial grants you access to more work on the Proofed platform.

If you don’t achieve a distinction score on your first attempt, you can purchase additional attempts, and the work guarantee still applies in the same way.

The courses can be purchased together or one at a time, but you must successfully complete both to be eligible for the work guarantee. If you wish to purchase the courses separately, you should begin with Becoming A Proofreader.

While anyone is welcome to take courses with Knowadays, including the course bundle, the work offer with Proofed is dependent on your location.

To be able to onboard to the Proofed platform, you must be registered for tax purposes in a country that has a dual-tax treaty with the US. This may or may not be the country in which you currently reside. You can review Proofed’s list of eligible countries to make sure you’re in a suitable location for the platform.

No! You can complete each course at your own pace, and you can take time off whenever you need to. And the tutor team is available to help you get back in the swing of things if you need an extended break.

Some learners start Becoming An Editor immediately after completing Becoming A Proofreader, while others leave a gap between the two courses. As long as you score 80% or above in each final assignment, you can take up a trial with Proofed, and it’s absolutely fine to take your time!

Yes. You should begin with Becoming A Proofreader.

A good editor needs to have strong proofreading skills, including being able to recognize and fix errors in grammar, punctuation, and spelling. Completing Becoming A Proofreader first builds a strong foundation for moving on to the more advanced techniques covered in Becoming An Editor.

If you don’t achieve a distinction score in your first attempt at the Becoming A Proofreader assignment, you can purchase up to two more attempts with new test documents. You can move on to the editing course before making another attempt, but we would recommend ensuring you have a strong grasp of proofreading before moving on to editing.

If you would like to improve your score after taking the Becoming An Editor final assignment, you can purchase up to two further attempts with new assignment texts.

You do not have to score 80% or above in Becoming A Proofreader in order to move on to Becoming An Editor, and some learners find it useful to take a break from proofreading and move on to editing to better understand the difference between the two tasks. It is then your choice whether you try the editing assignment or make a second attempt at the proofreading assignment first. The tutor team can help you decide on the most suitable path for you.

If you do not reach distinction scores in both Becoming A Proofreader and Becoming An Editor, then you cannot enter a work trial with Proofed, but this is not the end of the road! Not achieving distinction scores does not automatically mean you are a bad proofreader or editor; it often just means that you need more study and practice to become comfortable with the tasks.
